The brief was for an extension with a big space and lots of natural light to the back of this traditional home in Broughshane. Internally, the design changed much of the ground floor layout creating an open plan seamless transition between the kitchen, dining and new family living space within the contemporary extension.

The extensive glazing enables the spaces to be flooded with natural light, while, at the same time, connecting to the outside patio and landscaped garden.

"Richard Burnside Architecture was recommended to us by our builder for his expertise in residential architecture and innovative design.

Living busy lives and working long hours we needed someone to collaborate our ideas, oversee the project and deliver on time. Richard met with us, listened carefully to what we wanted for a home with a growing family and conveyed this into a stunning and functional modern extension. He alleviated any problems quickly with sensible solutions and a collaborative approach with our builder. During the entire project Richard respected our working agenda and made himself available at weekends or evenings to discuss design details and pragmatic advice. There were so many aspects that we would not have thought about had we not used Richard.

We are absolute thrilled with our extension. It has transformed the way we live and use our home. It is no surprise Richard Burnside Architecture came highly recommended."
